Sacred Places

This was inspired by my sister's blog: http://mikekaylynn.blogspot.com/2009/03/cooking-for-twelve.html

Sacred Places

What makes a place sacred?
Is it a prayer?
A dedication?
Talking in hushed tones?
An angel from on high?

Is it a building?
A room?
A grove of trees?
A mountain top?
It is a good start.

What makes a place sacred?
A changed heart?
A soul saved?
Serviced rendered?
Love shared?

Yes, a sacred place is a place where:
Love exudes from the pours,
Salvation is accepted,
The body and or the soul is feed,
A helping hand is extended.

Places like:
The Mount of Olives,
Calvary,
The kitchen,
A child’s hand.

Lauri’s Anniversary Gift. Waring Mushy sappy poetry.

I know that this was a little late, but since we are not celebrating until this weekend it is early. She has now seen it so I can share it with others.

God’s Gift to Women

Now don’t be deceived by this title,
For I have never thought of myself as
God’s gift to women.

There are men who think that they are
God’s gift to women.
They go from one to another because
They can or at least think that they can.

Me, at best, I’m a
Large huggable bear.
Not that I thought of this on my own,
But was told this many times over.

However there one woman who thinks that I am
God’s gift to her.

It is wonderful, warming thing for a
Large huggable bear
To know that one woman thinks that he is
God’s gift to her
Even though she is wrong.

For she is
God’s gift to me.

What I Hope Will Come

What I Hope Will Come

1 Kings 5:17 And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.

As I was contemplating of what to share
Into a vision I began to stare.
My family and I were traveling down the road
As we rounded the bend and crested the hill, suddenly it showed.

Like a castle in a pop-up book- a might Kingdom did appear.
So breathtaking was this kingdom that if you had a
passing glimpse of it out of the corner of one eye
you would hold the image dear.

At the gate King John and Queen Mary
welcomed us with loving embraces
But they did not have these faces,
These,
These, YOUNG faces that you see today
Though this vision was far far away
It was not a long long time ago,
It was a long long time from now
how long I do not know.
The effects of building such a kingdom
on their faces did show.
But on them it did glow,
it did glow.

As we walked through the kingdom
I noted the stone walls strong, secure, and true.
Laid without cement or mortar like those of Machu Picchu.

I stopped to exam the stones a little better.
I noticed each stone was marked with a
number, a symbol and or a letter.

I realized that John and Mary knew each stone,
When each was laid from where it was hewn.

For them the stones that simple slid into place
Just melded into the wall’s face.
But those stones that were cut, hewed,
and set with much struggle and hardship
John and Mary would touch them
with reverence and a thankful worship.
Among all the variety of stones that I saw that day,
Weather placed their by John and Mary alone,
Or with the help of any of us her today, or the help of
those who’s faces and names still unknown.
All seemed to be cut and hewn in the same way.

Each stone seemed to be singing,
That filled you with love,
that filled every fiber of you being.
At once I knew who had touched each stone
For He had helped my wife and me build
our humble home.
It was the builder, the chief mason,
The Master, The Savior, yes,
The Father’s only begotten son.

Then just like that the vision was done.

Now all vision of the future do not come true.
My hope that this one does for the two of you.
So to help to come out that way
I have just a few things to say.

Today with God and angles we witness you set
Your chief corner stone LA-88-08
Named after the place and today’s date.
As you continue to lay you foundation down,
Be exact and true
So later your kingdom does not go askew
Then Ka-blew

Keep your promises you made today.
Check you alignment with God everyday
So you don’t go astray.

Be truthful all the time.
Well, almost all the time.
Like if Mary is asking,
“Do I look fat in this dress?”
Bro I can’t help you here,
You will have to find a way
to get out of that mess.

Never stop learning: school, work,
Discovery channel or whatever you like.
Most important is to learn what Master is like.
Keep those things sacred
sacred.
Keep those things intimate,
intimate.

Work hard, enjoy life
Spend time as just husband and wife.

And I have a hunch
That it is good not to spend too much.

Eat good food, not too many sweets.
But every once in a while is ok to have as a treat.

Pray together morning and night.
This will make your stone’s to fit real tight.

Come to know the Savior,
That there is no other.
Trust in Him to show you way.
He is there for you every day.
Allow Him to help you hew and place each stone
As you build your heavenly home.
