Meet me at the Dog
(Look Up)
“Meet me at the Dog at Shibuya Station”
I would say.
“Not the Dog,
There are too many people there.
How will we ever find you?”
My friends would say in frustration
“Just look up.
And you will see me.
How many tall Gaijins can there be.
Just look up.”
I would usually arrive first,
And be waiting,
Standing tall above the crowd.
I would see my friends arrive one at a time.
Pressed in the crowd they would walk by.
Nor more then inches from me.
Not seeing beyond the person in front
No

Sometimes I would walk up and stand next to them.
I would wait to see how long it would take to notice me.
Sometime I would have to tap on the shoulder
Before they would look up and see me.
How often am I caught in the crowd,
Only seeing two inches in front of my own feet.
Before God taps me on the shoulder and says,
“Look up, all you have to do is look up.”
